Simple. Neat. Orderly.
A place for everything, and everything in its place.
Karmen Handel’s life growing up had been anything but quiet and simple. A deadbeat father, a mother who never wanted her, and a grandmother who could care less were the perfect recipe to ensure Karmen built a wall around herself and never let anyone in. When her past comes back to haunt her, Karmen has no one to help her. Until Nickel.
Complicated. Dirty. Restless.
Live to ride. Ride to live.
Nickel Cunningham lives free with the brothers he calls family and has never craved anything more until he met Karmen. The shy, quiet nurse who cares for his grandma caught his eye months ago, and he hasn’t been able to get her off his mind since. Nickel knows what he wants, but he’s never had to fight for it before. Until Karmen.

“You got plans tonight?” I was done chasing this chick. It was time to get straight to the point.

“Um…”
“You say that a lot, babe.”
“What?” she asked, confused.
“You say um a lot.”
“Oh, I guess I never noticed.” She stood there staring at me.
“Plans? You got any tonight?”
“Um.” She realized she said um again and blushed red, as her eyes darted down. “No plans.”
“You ever been to Shake the Lake?”
“Once, when I was seventeen. I didn’t get to see the fireworks, though.”
I reached out to grab my keys but grabbed her hand instead. “Come with me tonight,” I pleaded, our eyes locking.
She tried to jerk her hand out of my grasp, but I tightened my grip. “I can’t,” she insisted.
“Sure you can. You just told me you don’t have plans.”
“Um, I forgot that I have to go to…um…badminton practice,” she stuttered.
“Badminton practice?”
I didn’t think she could blush anymore, but her cheeks turned a dark shade of red, and she nodded yes. “I felt that I needed to broaden my horizons and figured that would be a good place to start.”
“Well, how about you broaden your horizon with me tonight, and you can pick back up with your badminton practice next week?”

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Winter Travers knows how to give you alpha MC man along with a strong independent female. This new MC series is starting off with a bang.

Not only is Nickel book one in a new series, I love how Winter was able to give her characters names that aren't seen in MC books.

In Nickel, we have Nickel who is the Sergeant in Arms for the Fallen Lords and Karmen a nurse at the Nursing home Nickel's grandmother is in. She's shy and quiet but has worked her butt off to get where she is in life. Having had to grow up way too young she doesn't give out trust easily, let alone the self-doubt and living in her head. But Nickel, that man will make you swoon for days. He will do whatever it takes to get what he wants and he's known for the last year he wants Karmen. He sets out to prove to her what he sees in her instead of what she thinks of herself.

Can Karmen let go long enough for Nickel to prove its worth the risk to be with him?

Winter not only gives us strong characters to fall in love with, she will also have you laughing your behind off at the banter between all the characters. Can't wait to see where Winter takes the rest of these characters.
